Pancakes anyone? :)

Friday night preparations...

The sleepover (did I say sleep?! ;) ) made the weekend less stressful, believe it or not! It was rather cold in the gym... what a wild night! -- the wind, not the young ladies -- they were quiet before 12.
But it was very helpful for us to be able to start working almost
at the crack of dawn. :)

Putting the fruit centerpieces together on Saturday morning was lots of (fun!) work. "Many hands..." -- they did a great job!

a few of the helpers...

...and some of the guests.

After breakfast & singing, Rick Postma from Word & Deed ministries did an eye-opening presentation on the work that is being done in Africa, especially focusing on the Bangwa House. This home for young girls is located in Malawi, where there are about 1 million orphans in a country of 14 million people, mostly due to the HIV/AIDS epidemic. May the Lord do a mighty work in that needy land!

Thanks Sharon for taking all the pictures and for all your help!! I am so thankful for all the extra work you and the other ladies put in. We couldn't have done it without you. What a fun time was had by all. And it was really neat to hear about the Bangwa house.

Looks like we missed out on a good time and lots of delicious food! The fruit looks especially wonderful, my mouth is watering! Missing you all!

Thanks, Sharon, for sleeping there with the girls and helping out - what a great group! They did us proud :) I'm so thankful for the Godly examples our girls are surrounded by - "older" women taking these younger ladies under their wings and teaching them - exactly the Biblical model God wants us to use. Such fun!

Yes, it's too bad you 3 ladies couldn't be there. :( Missed you all too...
and I forgot to mention on the post that the girls did a great job of decorating, cooking, serving, AND cleaning up afterwards -- and did it all cheerfully! Thanks girls! And a big thanks to Trish for all the organizing/planning you did! plus lots of thanks go to Liz & Jo, who worked so hard too... and to Cher (cooking all those sausages & baking muffins!) & Carole (Carole helped a lot on Saturday, before & after!) It was a joint effort! :) We especially are thankful to the Lord for blessing us richly that day & for giving such sweet fellowship in our church! He is good!
