Family Practice

I've been reading "Family Practice -- God's Prescription for a Healthy Home." In it R.C. Sproul Jr.(editor), Elisabeth Elliot, and others "...explain what the Bible has to say to and about Christian families."

I enjoyed R.C.'s reminder of our calling as parents...
"We bear God's covenant children in obedience to that command... that we be fruitful and multiply. We raise these children as the center of the garden we have been given to cultivate, seeking by his grace to raise them in the training and admonition of the Lord. We are teaching them that this is what God has called them to do, to raise up godly seed to exercise dominion over God's creation."

Bowmanville Zoo

On Friday we went to the Bowmanville Zoo!
We loved it... watched a neat animal show, and even got to pet a 4-month old lion cub named Temba!!

They also brought out a friendly ring-tailed lemur...

Daniel learned to get up on all fours this week! He loves to rock back & forth... He also has two teeth now! On Sunday we noticed that the first one was there, and the second came in Tuesday. Busy little fellow!

God blesses our garden...

These five cucumbers were picked today,
plus another five earlier in the week...

"For the earth that drinks in the rain that often comes upon it,
and bears herbs useful for those by whom it is cultivated,
receives blessing from God..."
-Hebrews 6:7

Daniel can sit!

He was just sitting there in the grass for 5 minutes!! He won't be 6 months for another 10 days -- but he was 9 days overdue, so maybe that's why he's so sturdy already.

His first taste of a leaf... ugghhh! :)

Red Currants

I picked lots of these today from our garden!

" 'I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End.
I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely
to him who thirsts.' "
-Rev. 21:6
When reading this verse this morning, the picture above (taken last Saturday) came to mind.
