Praise God for His promise that our spirits return to Him
at death -- He brings believers to their eternal home!
"...And thus we shall always be with the Lord.
Therefore comfort one another with these words." 1 Thess. 4:17, 18.
We can rejoice even in these times of deep
sorrow, as Rachel beautifully describes.
This picture of Allison & her "adopted Oma" was taken one year ago.
For man goes to his eternal home,
And the mourners go about the streets.
Remember your Creator before the silver cord is loosed,
Or the golden bowl is broken,
Or the pitcher shattered at the fountain,
Or the wheel broken at the well.
Then the dust will return to the earth as it was,
And the spirit will return to God who gave it.
Ecclesiastes 12: 6-7

When I was in gradeschool, Mrs Van Noort was my "adopted Oma" since my Oma lived in Holland and couldn't come to grandparents day. Mrs Van Noort came to visit me several years instead. :)
Thanks Sharon for the beautiful post and picture of Allison with Mrs. Van Noort. It was very mixed emotions at our house this morning when we heard the news. Allison as expected was very upset and spent a lot of the morning crying about it. When I explained how we should be happy that she was no longer in pain and was now with the Lord, Allison said "I know, but I am still really sad." We are so thankful that Mrs. Van Noort isn't in pain and that she is now in heaven with Jesus. What comfort that is, and yet we still have our earthly sorrow. What a promise knowing that we will one day see our Saviour and there will be no more death, pain or sorrow.

Yes -- how thankful we must be for the rich comfort of God's Word! may the Lord strengthen our faith, including our children's, through these things and teach us to number our days.
